About Marci’s Bakery

Welcome—I’m Marci.

More than 25 years ago, I founded this bakery because I couldn’t find the kind of baking my family needed: wholesome, delicious food that people with allergies, celiac disease, and other dietary restrictions could enjoy safely. In 1990, gluten-free and allergen-friendly baking was almost unheard of, so I began creating it myself. As I often joke, I was my own target customer.

What started as Marci’s Muffins grew from a personal need into a mission: to make exceptional baking that brings everyone to the same table. Every recipe is plant-based, gluten-free, nut-free and free from Canada’s priority food allergens—not as an afterthought, but because no one should have to choose between safety, inclusion, and something truly delicious. Over the years, we baked for thousands of families, supplied health food stores and hospitals, shipped across Canada and the United States, and shared our story through newspapers, magazines, radio, and television. Long before online shopping was commonplace, we were shipping fresh, allergen-friendly baking to people who couldn’t find safe products nearby.

But our success has never been measured by the number of muffins, cookies, or brownies we’ve sold. It’s measured by the child enjoying a birthday cupcake for the first time, the customer entering a bakery without fear, and families sharing the same dessert around one table.

Life has brought both joy and heartbreak. In 2000, our family experienced the devastating loss of our newborn child. I later stepped away from growing the business to focus on my family. When the time was right, I returned with renewed purpose, and in 2012, Marci’s Bakery was born. Years later, my 2nd granddaughter Georgie entered our lives. Born with a rare medical condition, she faced extraordinary challenges, yet filled every room with joy, courage, and love. Losing her was one of our family’s greatest heartbreaks, but her life continues to inspire me. Georgie reminded me that kindness, inclusion, and celebration matter—especially for families carrying burdens others cannot see. That spirit lives on in everything I bake.
